Built on a BS2, I will soon been transferring over to a single PIC, maybe another 16F627 like my 4x4x4.

The fading effects are controlled by an AD2550 digital potentiometer, all 3 cathodes are connected to their own 2N3904 transistor.
Took me two hours to fully assemble the cube.
That's about it.

Very good job! I would never of though to do that with a BS2. What made you choose to use a digital potentiometer and not PWM? With the BS2 I believe there is a command like pulseout and you can very the pulse with easily.

Great job,
Justin

I chose to use the AD2550 to control the fading effects because it seemed to be more smoother and when I pulsed faster and faster without it, it just didn't look right.

I googled AD2550 and found nothing. Where did you buy it?
Thanks,
Justin

lol, I read the numbers wrong, it's actually AD5220, not 2550. For some reason, whenever I think of this chip, I always remember 2550, its similar to my school locker number 2505, 2550, get confused.

Looks good. I have never used a digital potentiometer but this one looks simple to use.
Thanks,
Justin

PostSubject: Now on PIC 16F627A!!!!   Sun May 11, 2008 7:04 pm

Off the BASIC Stamp, and onto a PIC. Still not finished programming.

When making the new cube, I decided to change the color from yellow to green(yellow is not bright enough).
I call this the "Desktop Cube".
Here are some pics:

Great job! Looks nice. Are you still using basic? Where did you get those stand offs?

Are those 3mm LED?

I got those standoff's at Radio Shack.
I'm still using BASIC.
And yes, those are 3mm LED's, got 100 of them for $10(like 3 years ago, don't remember where I got them).
